Menopause, fitness & weight gain!

Wouldn’t it be great to be the fittest & strongest you have ever been?

Ladies, life is yours & yours to be enjoyed & celebrated!

It should be a happy & vibrant one!

One where you live it how you want to!

But are you struggling?

Struggling with unexplained weight gain, loss of energy, a body that just seems to “ache” on days for no good reason?

  • Are you finding that what you did in the past to control your weight is just not working anymore?
  • Do your clothes not fit like they use too?
  • Is there an unexplained change in your middle that you dislike??
  • Concerned about your pelvic floor and leaking or prolapsing?

Maybe you are entering or are in the “next phase” of your journey as a woman? Menopause?

Have you been told or do you live with the belief that you just have to live with it/accept it as there isn’t anything you can do to change it??

Did you know there are  3 stages to Menopause?

Perimenopause

The time leading up to menopause. It describes a time when hormones start to decline and menstrual cycles become erratic and irregular. You may start to experience side effects of menopause, like hot flashes or vaginal dryness.

It can begin as early as your 30s but usually starts between 40-44 years.

Menopause

Menopause is a normal part of ageing for a woman and literally means “last period”. It is generally considered to be complete when a woman has not had a period for one year.

Menopause, is often referred to as “the change of life”, usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 years. Premature (early onset) menopause is when periods stop before the age of 40 years.

Postmenopause

The time after you’ve been without a menstrual period for 12 months. During this stage, menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, get milder or go away.

Women in postmenopause are at increased risk for osteoporosis and heart disease.

Medication or healthy lifestyle changes may reduce the risk of these conditions.

On average, women go through menopause around 51 years of age.

Whatever stage you are in, being active can play a huge role in how your body stays strong, fit & able to do all that you want it to do.

Physical activity has positive effects on our mood and our ability to reduce stress so it can in itself help ease the symptoms.

There are changes happening within our bodies that we can not control!

Our approach in our 20’s & 30’s  won’t work now we are in our 40’s, 50’s & 60’s.

We are women and we can not change our physiology but we can work with it!

What we need now for weight control, for toning, for fitness is the same medicine as back then, but the big change is that now it’s a different dosage!!!

If we are smart we work with our bodies during our cycles and our changing hormones to optimise our performance, our energy and of course our results!

Training during these stages of change also is a mindset shift.

We actually have to accept that the changes are happening, we need to stay positive and embrace these changes!

What we don’t have to accept is that this is it!
  • You can reduce the belly fat gain around your waist!
  • You can tone your arms and reduce the “jiggle” when you wave and build up definition in your biceps and shoulders!
  • You can enjoy wearing short sleeved tops!
  • You can lift weights and not put on muscle bulk but instead gain the much need strength and control we need as we age!
Having a fitness & wellness program that is personalised to you and your body that can be adapted on the day, depending on how you feel is crucial to you entering this journey.
